Shameless Summer Festival Post

Doe Bay

And I haven’t even told you about Doe Bay yet.

I considered calling this post “What I Did on My Summer Vacation,” or more accurately, “Shameless Self-Promotion.” But since I’m being shameless, I thought, “Titles that can be construed as sexual get the most hits, so what the hell, let’s go for the click-bait.” Anyway, I’ve been doing a little writing outside of this blog this summer, and I’m kind of proud of some it. So today I am reblogging myself. Below you will links to some of the things I’ve written lately.

Music Festivals

I love summer music festivals. As a mom, it’s hard to get out and see a lot of shows. Babysitters in my high-rent city run about $100/night, then there’s tickets and parking and beer and pretty soon you have to stay home. But a festival let’s you catch more than half a dozen shows in one day, with the kids, and still make bedtime. I see live music, my kids see live music. Life is good.

I researched summer festivals around the West Coast, and found a few to recommend here.

My annual Bumbershoot guide for families ran here.

And I got to go solo for a week and check out Iceland’s metalhead family reunion, Eistnaflug. I’m going to write more about on this blog and elsewhere, but for now, I’m hella stoked to power KEXP with blog content here.

Pending

I had a couple assignments this summer that were not festival related, but they aren’t out yet, because they are going to be printed on paper. This is irrelevant, but still feels special, somehow. If it doesn’t cost me too many followers, I will probably mention them here when they come out. Because if you like reading my blog, you probably want to see my articles, too, right?
