Last month I posted My 2024 Year in Books, and to avoid too much New Year navel gazing, postponed a publication round up. So, this post collects links to everything I wrote that published in December and January. I hope you find something to enjoy.

Since I already posted a 2024 reading summary, I’ll stick to 2025 here. I got a great start on my 2025 goal of reading 100 books by finishing 16 books in January. Before you get too impressed, some of those were farewell readings of picture books my kids outgrew and wanted to pass on. And others were books in Spanish that matched my current CEFR A2 Spanish reading level – books like “Harry the Dirty Puppy.” But I also got all the way through the doorstop Priory of the Orange Tree, so I really did read a lot. I finally got up the courage to rip my heart out of my chest with Of Mice and Men, which I had been avoiding since high school, and I tore through the entertaining autobiography of Rob Halford, Confess.
In other bookish news, I’ve been testing out Fable because neither Goodreads nor Storygraph is quite satisfactory. It is also not quite satisfactory. Do you have a favorite book app? I’d love to hear what – and how – other people use them.
And that’s the last couple months in the books.
