Published in January 2021
January of 2021 was my biggest months ever as a freelancer. A nonprofit that I work with was rebranding, and I helped write, edit, or write and edit the copy for every page of their new website. It was a huge project that took up what seemed like all of my time. So I was shocked at the end of the month to discover that I also published about as many articles as I usually do in a typical month. Pow.

I wrapped up my series on greenwashing with stories.
Greenwashing the Lesser of Two Evils
Greenwashing: Untruth in Advertising
Researching buyers’ guides is a pain in the butt, and every time I write one I decide not to do any more of them. Then, once they’re turned in, I forget the pain and stupidly pitch more of them. The cycle repeated in January.
There were some stand-alone articles.
Winter Reads, Books that support your love of nature
Predicting Environmental Trends for 2021
Cutting Carbon From Your Fireplace
And an old article republished.
Eco-Friendly Ways to De-Ice Your Sidewalk
ParentMap
Helping Kids Deal with Headline Anxiety
Seattle Times
Seattle-based Indieflix expands with films about mental health
Crooked Road
Once again, the blog took a backseat in January, with only six new posts.
Most Read Posts
K-drama tropes maintained the top spots for the most popular posts in January:
Amnesia, the Ultimate K-Drama Trope
The Constitution, despite the category not having been updated lately, also remained popular. The Necessary and Proper Clause kept its place in the top five as well. Interestingly, this month it was joined by the Punishment for Counterfeiting.
Perhaps because it’s timely again, The Pongal’s Over broke into the top five for the first time since I posted it in 2014.
Common Queries
Unsurprisingly, the top four queries (as well as numbers six, seven, and nine) were all variations on “korean drama amnesia.”
Some teacher must have assigned a book report, because the number 5 query was “growth of the soil summary.”
Oh, and in case you’re curious, here’s the other website I was working on.
