August is supposed to be the dog days of summer. But here I’ve got a picture of a donkey instead. I guess that’s because donkeys are hard workers, but the move slow, and that’s a pretty good visual metaphor for what August was like for me. For details, keep reading below the fold.
Earth911
I wrote for a multiple publications and clients in August, but everything that made it to publication was on Earth911.
I continued the Home “Eco”nomics series with:
I continued the Good, Better, Best series with:
Cutting Carbon From Your Vegetarian Diet (I confess that despite doing this research, I have not cut down on coffee or chocolate one bit.)
Freestanding articles included:
Ecosystem Services: Nature’s gifts that help us thrive
International Day Against Nuclear Tests
Reprints/updates of older articles were:
Landscaping for Fire Resistance
Closing the Loop with Architectural Salvage
Crooked Road
The downward trend in posting continued for another month as I spent more time exercising and managing kids watching Asian dramas and only posted 6 times. But strangely, traffic and most other blog metrics continued to improve in August. The most popular posts were:
Post Offices and Post Roads – This years’ old post on the Constitution Article 1 §8.7 topped the charts. Google’s August Search Performance report also says this was the top “growing” post this month. I’m glad I’m not the only one concerned about the fate of the USPS. When I searched for “countries without postal service” I got a quora thread that mentioned South Sudan (and a response that said they’ve got one now) and Guatemala.
Music I Like Like Nachos – After posting about Music I Like weekly for over a year, I just haven’t been able to get my notes ready to publish, so this was one of only two I got out in August.
The Viking Village of Njardarheimr in Gudvangen – I have no idea why this came up now.
The Space Between Us Seattle Dance Collective – The final piece from SDC’s second season in July was the only one I didn’t write about until August.
Drunken Piggyback Ride – As you’ll see below, my K-drama trope post about Amnesia got all the search hits, but this was the post people actually read more.
Search Terms
Google Console says the queries that most often led to people clicking on my page were:
sailor moon le mouvement final
bruno roque – frequent collaborator with SDC who choreographed The Space Between Us
hegemone we disappear – I had forgotten about this album. Now I need to listen to it again.
Top site searches were:
James Yoichi Moore – cofounder of Seattle Dance Collective and performer in The Space Between Us
sons of a wanted man – one of the bands in my Nachos post
