November Bylines
Yesterday I had the tremendously satisfying experience of getting paid for work done in October on the same day that I prepared invoices for work submitted in November. It made me feel very professional and financially secure.
So what was all that money for? For those of you following along at home, here is what I published in November.
A Book!
I cheated and included this in my previous bylines post. But having my work included in a book is worth talking about twice. Former ParentMap editor Elisa Murray put together the book 52 Seattle Adventures with Kids: A Four-Season Guide. Organized by season, it is a local’s guide to the most affordable and awesome family outings around the Puget Sound region and beyond, highlighting a new outdoor or indoor adventure for every week of the year. I wrote five of the entries:
- Cheap Summer Cinema
- Hidden Seattle Center
- Screaming Fun Sledding Hills
- Quirky Landmarks
- Winning Winter Tours
Earth911
With a couple of exceptions, somehow my November list of environmental articles reads like a series of butt jokes. I don’t know how that happened. But I’m not sorry.
- Butts Out of the Ocean
- Skiing Green
- The Poo Problem: Diapers
- The Poo Problem: Pet Waste
- How to Find Ethical Jewelry
ParentMap
I only had one article in ParentMap in November, but it’s a monster of research and logistics. 30+ Holiday Shows for Every Family lists just about every family-friendly arts event in King County this holiday season.
Blogging
Here on the blog, I posted 11 times in November, missing a couple of my regular weekly posts in the holiday craziness. Even so, traffic was up a bit this month. Strangely, despite no longer cross-posting to Facebook, it was still my biggest referrer. Twitter was second, and my author bio links on ParentMap and Earth911 followed them.
Visitors
Top visiting countries were the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., although Germany showed up a lot, too.
My busiest day was November 10. I didn’t post anything new that day, but I posted about the ballet Cacti the day before. In fact, all of my best posts for November were about Pacific Northwest Ballet’s November program, All Premiere.
Top Posts
Other high performers, were, unusually enough, my About Me page and an old book review of Through Black Spruce. Is Joseph Boyden in the news again?
Search Terms
None of these search terms were used more than once, but here they are with links to what the searchers probably found:
- silent ghost alejandro serruto (sic)
- sailor guardians
- naked violetta traviata (?!)
- marriage of figaro bugs bunny
That’s all, folks!
