Music I Liked – Midcentury Modern and Industrial Violin

Last week was so much music. I discovered an Icelandic neoclassical composer – too late. My daughter’s orchestra had its winter performance. I attended Seattle Symphony Untuxed where I was exposed to midcentury modern music of the orchestral variety that still raises eyebrows today. Then electric violin and industrial soundscapes blew my mind at Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Director’s Choice. Through the week, a few themes emerged.

Music I Liked: Decibel Magazine Tour

In October, I resolved to go to a concert every month. I haven’t quite kept that resolution. In February there were three concerts I couldn’t decide among and ended up missing them all. One of the shows under consideration for March was the Decibel Magazine Tour. The logistics weren’t great; a Tuesday at El Corazon. The timing wasn’t great; I had a busy schedule the next day, no babysitter, and my leg was hurting. But at the last minute I dragged my ass out of the house. I’m so glad I did. Read More

Music I Liked – Black Panther and Berlioz

music shop windoOnce again, last week the music I liked was determined what I watched. Like everyone else in America, I saw Black Panther at the movie theater last week. I was also part of a smaller group that watched Seattle Opera’s re-premiere of the opera Beatrice and Benedict by Berlioz.
