In a Nutshell

They call the Snaefellsnes peninsula “Iceland in a Nutshell” because it contains all the different environments that can be found in the country. This farm is Snaefellsnes in a nutshell. In the frame, snowy mountains and grassy fields. Behind the photographer, lava rock and a black sand beach.

On my very first trip to Iceland, I noticed how often they decorated with words there, and of course that was part of why I fell in love with the place. Seven years ago, a different message resonated with me, but Keflavik Airport is full of such wise decor.

Fancy Desserts

Although they are technically fruit, tomatoes are usually considered savory fare. But at the Friðheimar restaurant in Iceland, every day is Iron Chef, and the challenge ingredient is always tomatoes. Which means that even fancy desserts involve tomatoes.
