More Death Metal I Like

I listen to so much death metal, especially of the melodic and doomy varieties, but also the technical and the old school. And maybe it makes me a bad metalhead, but sometimes I’m just not interested in phylogeny.

How to Appreciate Public Art

This giant block of ice was placed in Occidental Park as part of a public art project several years ago. You might question whether a block of ice counts as art. But it was midsummer, so every time you walked by it looked a little different. It was so unusual to see a giant block of ice that everyone stopped to look and wondered if they could touch it. Complete strangers struck up conversations about it trying to decide if they liked it or hated it. Even the dogs were intrigued, and had kind of the same response. Is it something to lick or something to pee on?

Secret Childhood Connection in K-Drama

If you’re new to K-drama and having a hard time predicting who the heroine will end up with, there’s a trick to identifying the winner. Her true love will be announced well in advance through a series of flashbacks revealing that the hero and the heroine knew each other as children, but have been separated for decades. Western viewers thrill to the idea of finding the needle of true love in the global haystack. But K-drama viewers know true love is based on a secret childhood connection.
